Tampa Bay Times:  Savage Race drags 12,000 runners through the mud

"Waves of competitors by the hundreds left the starting line every 20 minutes, crashing into a 6-mile course of exhausting obstacles and challenging terrain. The event was a follow up to last fall's Savage Race and was a tremendous success for the organizers, who continue to see the number of participants in their events grow."

Travlete Reader's Choice Best Obstacle Race Series of 2012

"David met Goliath in the mud-pit and crawled out a winner in this one. When we reviewed Savage Race a few months ago, we were in awe of how well-polished the event was despite it being a relative newcomer. With an enormous number of obstacles on each course, Savage Race is certainly backing up their claim of having some of the “biggest and baddest obstacles in the game’. To all the big boys in the pit [Tough Mudder, Spartan Race, Warrior Dash], best consider this a warning."

Travlete Magazine Review

"Savage Race easily earned an “A”. In fact, there aren’t many tweaks that we can think of to improve the event. Organizers 100% delivered on its promise of packing in a ton of obstacles, providing “something bigger than the race itself,” and most importantly…delivering a ton of FUN!"

Obstacle Fit Review

"The challenge for any obstacle race is to keep things fresh and challenging. Like a house that’s been remodeled, this year’s Savage Race brought the same footprint, with a 10 percent expansion, and managed to create a more polished product with upgrades."

Obstacle Racing Magazine

"Great event from top to bottom. I always say you can tell a lot about a race before you even get on the course. Parking was easy and handled by well trained volunteers. Same for registration. After being very impressed with those first two indicators and seeing a very well set up festival, food, sponsor area, I had very high expectations for the race itself. I was not let down. It was a 6.4 mile course, I love when I get a longer race than expected. It means I am getting more than I paid for, plus it means more running, which I enjoy ... Clearly, the folks over at Savage are going give [Spartan Race, Warrior Dash and Tough Mudder] a run for their money as the years go on as they know how to put on a great event."

"Other shorter mud runs I’ve competed in have been a walk in the park compared to this race."
