About Savage Race
The mission of Savage Race is to enable you to have the most exciting day of your life – period. Our events are the ultimate opportunity to push your physical and mental limits, bond with your co-workers, friends and family, and just have an all-around great time. The reason Savage Race is such a success is because we have the best fans and participants in the universe. When we pull together several thousand Savages for an event, it’s impossible NOT to have an amazing time.

With over 20 real obstacles, our race is a true challenge, and not just a friendly muddy 5k with a few measly “speed bump” obstacles like some other events. At 4 – 6 miles, our event is the perfect blend of distance and obstacles. Trust us – we don’t need a longer race to kick your ass. For more information, check out what some of our past participants have said.
That depends. Our participants generally fall into one of two categories: easygoing weekend warrior types or fierce competitors. If you are the competitive type, make sure to sign up for our competitive heat (wave 1) to be eligible for finisher awards. If you just want to run to have fun, sign up for a non-competitive wave. Competitive or not, all participants are encouraged to help each other complete the race course. All participants are chip timed and will have their race results posted.
Nope. All of the images you see on our website actually came from one of OUR events.

You must be 14 years old on event day to participate in Savage Race. If you are under 18 on race day, you must arrive to our event with your race waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.
Check your event page to find out when registration closes. However, we almost always sell out our events, so if you wait too long you might miss out. The registration price increases the closer to the event you wait. Signing up early will save you money and make it easier to recruit friends.

Believe it or not, we get asked this a lot. If you’re asking this, you haven’t spent much time looking at our photo albums, have you? The answer is a big YES. Savage Race wouldn’t be nearly as awesome without our lady savages. Women make up about 44% of our participants.
You’d be crazy not to bring them. Who do you think is going to take that Facebook shot of you jumping over fire or crawling under barbed wire? We don’t charge a spectator fee, and there is plenty of fun, food and drinks to keep your spectators having a good time.
We charge $10 per car, and $5 for motorcycles. Most Savages choose to carpool so that the cost per person is minimal. (Hint: carpool)
Yes, provided your desired wave time is not full. No wave changes will be allowed within 20 days of the event.

In some cases you may be eligible for a partial cancellation code (85% of registration cost paid). However, the cancellation period ends a week before final registration ends.
If you're eligible for cancellation, you may transfer your credit to a friend. Your friend will pay the difference in the value of the cancellation code and the current cost of registration, plus applicable fees. Your friend may choose from wave times that are open at the time that they register. They may not take your spot in a closed wave.
For more on cancellation, click HERE.
We provide discounts for active-duty millitary personnel, but be prepared to show your military ID when you pick up your packet. E-mail us at info@savagerace.com to get the code.
Because the competitive wave is eligible for finisher prizes like the Savage Axe of Fame and age group awards. Also, the additional cost will help encourage non-competitive participants to sign up for other waves (making the competitive wave more competitive).
Teams
Yes. Teams of 4 or more can register at a discount by selecting a TEAM member registration option. Check out your event page for team pricing.
When you go to register, make sure to choose one of the TEAM member registration option and not the INDIVIDUAL registration options. If you are the team captain, or the first member of your team to sign up, select Create New Team from the drop down menu. If your team has already been created, select the name of your existing team from the drop down menu.
Team members will all register and pay separately at their own convenience. You may add as many team members as you want, up until we close down registration.
To join an existing team, choose one of the TEAM member registration options on the registration page and select your team's name from the drop down menu. Sometimes teams come up with similar names, so make sure that you know the exact spelling of your team name if you are unsure! Also, make sure you know which wave time your team has selected so that you can enter that correctly!
Yep. You can add as many people as you want to a team until registration is sold out. Our largest team to date is 34 people.
Yes. Team members are free to choose different waves from one another if they wish, or if one of the team's wave has filled up. It's common to see one big team split between two or more different waves. We also allow for teams to be comprised of both competitive and non-competitive participants.
Nope. Team members can sign up independently, whenever registration is open. However, make sure to choose a Team Member registration class and select the proper team name from the drop down menu.
Also, team members may pay different amounts from one another since prices go up closer to the event.
Teams are awarded in several ways:
- The fastest team is determined by the sum of the 3 fastest participants from each team. Teams with fewer than 3 participants in competitve heats are not scored.
- The largest team wins an award. This award applies to participants in any and all heats.
- Best team costume wins an award at our afterparty.
- Most team spirit wins an award at our afterparty.
- Best team name will be publicly recognized on our facebook page.
- All team members in competitive heats are also eligible for any and all individual awards.
Not unless it's an emergency. If this is a life or death matter, like if your team name is "Lucious MILF Brigade" and all of a suddent five of your most manly guy friends want to join, contact us and we'll help you figure something out.
We discount Team member pricing based on the assumption that you will bring a team of at least 4 people. If you sign up for the race, but have fewer than 4 team members on your team on race day, the team captain's credit card will be charged an additional $15. This isn't something we particularly like to do, so go out there and recruit!
Charities
Yes. We work with many different charitable organizations and community groups. We have made significant contributions to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Autism Speaks, BASE Camp Childhood Cancer Foundation, Cambrian Foundation and Boy Scouts of America.
Preparing For Savage Race
Some Savages follow strict diets and workout routines. Others eat Cheetos and start drinking beer at noon every day. Either training plan is fine by us.
That depends. We don’t have a problem with people walking the course or taking a casual approach to Savage Race, and some people do. However, if you want a great time or win a competitive heat, you will need to be an advanced athlete.
Normal running clothes, but keep in mind that you will get wet during Savage Race. Also, some of our events include a swim, so bring goggles and wear clothing with minimal drag.
Bring dry clothes that suit the weather of the event day. It sucks to be too cold/hot when your friends want to stick around after the race. Also, don’t forget your party pants.
Yes. No one is required to swim. In fact, we actively encourage people to bypass deep water swims if they are even the slightest bit unsure.
A time penalty for skipping the swim is in place only to make sure that no one can win their heat after bypassing. If you're not competitive, it's really not a big deal. Be safe - if you're not a strong swimmer, take the penalty.
